Three RI Firefighters Injured in House Fire

Crews from several departments needed around an hour to get control of a house fire in North Kingstown that sent three firefighters to the hospital.

Three Rhode Island firefighters were injured during large house fire Sunday.

The fire broke out at about 10:30 p.m. at a home in North Kingstown, WPRI-TV reports. When crews reached the scene, they encountered heavy flames coming from the second floor.

During the call, a firefighter injured his knee, another suffered a laceration, and a third firefighter experienced chest pains from heat exhaustion. All three firefighters were taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Crews from several departments—including Narragansett, East Greenwich, Warwick and West Warwick—helped with the fire. The flames were under control in around an hour.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
