One North Kingstown firefighter was hospitalized for heat exhaustion and another was injured and treated on scene after the roof collapsed on him.

Firefighters were called to Juniper Drive around 5 a.m. and found heavy fire coming through the roof.

Officials told WPRI 12 that the fire was confined to the attic and no one is living in the home at this time.

U.S. News reports that the fire is thought to have started in the attic, although the exact cause remains under investigation, but a lightning strike has not been ruled out as storms were moving through the area at the time
