Over 100 Los Angeles firefighters battled a massive vacant building fire early Thursday that was declared a "major emergency"  by the department.

The fire broke out at around 3 a.m. at a 80,000 square-foot former grocery story in the Sun Valley section of the city, KTLA-TV reports. Crews encountered heavy flames when they reached the scene and went into a defensive mode.

The blaze was declared a major emergency, and aerials were used to douse the flames from above. The fire was put out in a little over an hour and a half.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
