Five FDNY Firefighters Injured Battling Brooklyn Fire

Roughly 170 firefighters and 39 units worked for around four hours to contain a fire that erupted at a two-story commercial structure in Coney Island.

Five FDNY firefighters were injured battling a commercial fire in Brooklyn on Monday.

Roughly 170 firefighters and 39 units responded to the call shortly after 5:45 a.m. in the Coney Island neighborhood, WPIX-TV reports. That's when a two-story commercial building caught fire.

Five firefighters were injured during the fire. Four of the firefighters who suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. The fifth firefighter refused medical care.

Crews were able to get the flames under control just before 9:45 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
