LAFD Crews Battle Downtown Commercial Fire

Dec. 24, 2021
One Los Angeles firefighter suffered an ankle injury during a two-hour battle to contain a blaze in a former medical clinic.

About 50 firefighters responded to a commercial building fire in downtown Los Angeles Wednesday morning that left a firefighter injured.

Fire crews were called to the 1800 block of South Main Street at 2:46 a.m. and began battling the fire in a one- and two-story mixed use former medical clinic.

The unreinforced masonry building was the site of a previous fire and was structurally unstable, the fire department stated, forcing them to use a defensive attack.

One firefighter suffered an ankle injury and was transported to the hospital.
