FDNY firefighters battled a massive fire in a six-story Queens apartment building on Thursday afternoon.
One firefighter and one civilian sustained minor injuries, MSN reported.
Dark smoke billowed and darkened the sky about 3 p.m. Firefighters reported the blaze was under control about an hour later.
A local resident told reporters she heard sirens and an explosion.
The cause remains under investigation.
