Water Shuttled to Rural NH House Explosion, Fire

Sept. 1, 2022
Brookline Lt. Meaghan Fricke said it was a difficult fire to fight.

Firefighters from 14 New Hampshire fire departments assisted with a house explosion and fire Wednesday afternoon.

A frame is the only thing that remains of the Brookline house.

Brookline Lt. Meaghan Fricke told WMUR it took crews more than two hours to bring the fire under control. A smoking frame is all that's left.

"Given the rural conditions, there's no hydrants in town, just dry hydrants and cisterns. We had to get several engines into a water supply tanker shuttle operation here."

No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
