3 CA FFs Injured Battling Strip Mall Fire

Three Long Beach Fire Department members were hospitalized during the three-alarm fire.

Three Long Beach Fire Department firefighters were injured while battling a three-alarm strip mall fire. 

According to FOX 11, firefighters responded to the 5600 block of Atlantic Avenue just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday and saw heavy smoke and flames coming from one of the buildings.

Two of the firefighters have been released and recovering at home, while one firefighter is still hospitalized.

Dozens of firefighters used defensive tactics to quickly extinguish the blaze. 

The building was still severely damaged and ruled almost a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
