Dec. 19, 2022
Unity Fire Chief P.J. Mudar credited the RIT crew for its fast response to rescue the firefighters.

Two firefighters who called a 'Mayday' were rescued from a house fire in Plum Borough early Monday morning.

They were treated for minor injuries and will be OK, Unity Vol. Fire Chief P.J. Mudar told KDKA.

The chief credited crews who were ready to perform the rescues of the firefighters who needed help inside. They didn't let snow and icy conditions hamper their immediate effort.

There was a partial collapse of the house. However, no residents were injured in the fire that was reported about 2:45 a.m.

The cause is under investigation.
