A Portland house exploded and flames quickly spread to the house next door.
Firefighters from Portland and Tualatin Valley quickly focused on containing the fire to make sure it didn't spread, KGW reported.
Crews called a second alarm to bring additional resources.
NW Natural later said in a statement crews had "completed surveys of the pipeline system in the area to verify its integrity."
The cause remains under investigation.
