Bystanders rescued two small children from a burning car in a Florida mall parking lot.
The mother reportedly left the two alone when she went into the mall to shoplift, according to CBS.
A girl suffered first-degree burns to her face and ears. Both were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Alicia Moore, 24, and a man were reportedly observed shoplifting from one of the stores. After about an hour as she was leaving the store, she saw the car engulfed in fire and dropped the stolen items, the station reported.
She was charged with aggravated child neglect and arson.
Police said they don't know what caused the fire but said it's unlikely the children would have been injured if Moore "was not being neglectful."
Also, she was charged arson because the fire occurred while she was allegedly committing a felony, according to the arrest report.
