Two Jump to Escape RI Fire; Suspect in Custody

Providence firefighters said the man and woman in their 70s were transported to a hospital.

One person was taken into custody after two people jumped from a building to escape a fire Tuesday night.

The man and woman who jumped were transported to a hospital, Providence Deputy Chief Steve Capracotta told WPRI.

“They’re both in their 70s and jumping out of windows is probably not that pleasant,” he said.

Two others who escaped from the fire were treated at the scene.

The person suspected of arson turned over to the arson squad.
