Oct. 5—Four Pearland firefighters were hospitalized due to injuries Thursday in a fire on Frazier Road, west of Pearland, authorities said.
A nearby resident called police around 11:30 a.m. about a mobile home in the 18000 block of Frazier Road that was on fire, said Pearland spokesperson Joshua Lee.
Firefighters had begun their efforts when an exterior wall of the mobile home toppled over and crushed them. The wall broke the leg of one firefighter and caused minor burn injuries to the rest, Lee said. No one was inside the home.
The firefighters were sent to Memorial Hermann Hospital where they are all expected to make a full recovery, and some have been released, Lee said.
It took the department two hours to put out the fire. Several Pearland fire trucks supplied water to the scene, as the rural area did not have a fire hydrant, Lee said.
The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time. The city's fire marshal is investigating.
