A firefighter escaped injury after falling through a floor while battling a two-alarm fire at an apartment building in Avon on Sunday night.
Avon Fire Chief Kevin Partridge told WCVB said the RIT crew rescued the Brockton firefighter who called the Mayday within one minute.
The chief said crews train regularly for Mayday situations.
Heavy fire was showing from the building when firefighters approached the area. No one was injured, but a cat perished.
