A Bridgeport firefighter was injured when he fell through a burning floor at a house fire.
While checking for extension inside the structure, fire officials said one firefighter called a mayday. Then, he fell through the second floor to the first, according to WTNH.
The Rapid Intervention Team rescued him, and he was transported to a hospital for treatment. There was no word on his condition.
On Tuesday night as Bridgeport firefighters were responding, 9-1-1 dispatchers said they were getting numerous calls from citizens reporting a heavy volume of fire. They struck a second alarm to alert additional resources.
The cause remains under investigation.
