An early morning collision between a tanker truck and another vehicle on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights Monday ignited both vehicles and a building, snarling the morning return to work for road and rail commuters.

The wreck and blaze closed the highway and suspended commuter train service on NJ Transit’s nearby Pascack Valley Line, according to agency alerts.

Hasbrouck Heights police told News12 that no one was injured in the crash near Industrial Avenue. No other information was available from police. A video shot by driver Brandon Corcoran shows fire engulfing the truck and threatening a nearby storage facility.

The state Department of Transportation closed the highway in both directions at 6 a.m., according to alerts on 511NJ. Firefighters from as far away as Little Falls and Hackensack were seen in videos fighting the blaze.

NJ Transit suspended rail service around 7 a.m., according to alerts and service resumed just before 9 a.m. with delays.
