Feb. 1, 2024
Williamstown Firefighter Matt Combs is recovering from second-degree burns.

A burning Williamstown firefighter, who rolled out of a building after he was caught in a flashover and collapse, is recovering.

“Matt’s coming out of the structure. His gear is on fire. You can see the fire dripping off from some of his helmet,” Williamstown Chief Les Whalen told WLWT.

Fellow firefighters sprayed water on Matt Combs' gear to extinguish the flames. He was then transported to a hospital where he was treated for second-degree burns.

He was released but will continue to receive medical care for his injuries.
