Authorities continue to investigate the cause of a house explosion that killed an elderly couple in Crescent Township Tuesday morning.
The victims were identified as David Mitchell Jr. 89, and Helen Mitchell, 87.
The blast was “severe, absolutely extreme,” and “You could feel it in your chest," said Crescent Township Fire Chief Andrew Tomer told NBC 10.
It was heard and felt throughout the area and across the river. Tomer said he saw “a column of white smoke up in the air followed by a thick column of black smoke."
A private gas well and two propane tanks on the scene were secured.
