Traffic around Frederick was snarled Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer fire forced the closing of I-270 southbound.
Firefighters stationed in Urbana encountered heavy fire as they approached the area before dawn.
Another trucker motioned to the driver that his rig was on fire. He pulled over and got out, WJLA reported.
Crews remained at the scene at noon.
