In the early afternoon of Thursday, April 7, 2005 Norwood Park firefighters responded to what became a 5-alarm fire.
The fire was in a fully occupied apartment building. Fire had heavily involved a top floor apartment in this multi-unit building. High wind conditions forced fire throughout the cockloft area almost immediately upon arrival. Numerous tower ladders, an aerial pipe, snorkel and several handlines were required to bring the fire under control.
The Norwood Park Fire Department serves the towns of Norridge and Harwood Heights, Illinois a close suburb of Chicago.
