The morning of July 30, 2006 was a busy time for Buffalo firefighters. They were called to 3 separate blazes within 45 minutes of each other. The first call came in at 5:18 a.m. reporting a structure fire at 51 Imson Street. The Fire Alarm office dispatched Engines 32, 35, and 25, Ladders 5, 15, and 10; Rescue 1; the 6th Battalion Chief, Division Chief, F20 and the air truck (F7). Companies arrived approximately 3 minutes later and reported a working fire in the rear of a 2 1/2 story wood frame dwelling. Additional companies were requested bringing Engines 3 and 36 and Ladder 7.
Approximately 5:28 a.m. the alarm office received a call reporting smoke in the area of Potters Road and Woodside Avenue. Dispatchers sent Engines 4 and 28, Ladder 2 and the 3rd Battalion Chief. Engine 4 arrived 2 minutes later and reported a large 2 1/2 story wood frame dwelling fully involved. The balance of the first alarm was requested bringing Engine 1, Ladders 14 and 6, the 4th Battalion Chief and an air truck (F8). A second alarm was sounded bringing Engines 22, 31, and 21, Ladders 4 and 7 and B41. The home was approximately 400 feet from the road and surrounded by heavy brush. Firefighters were forced to stretch hose lines by hand to reach the fire building. One firefighter was injured and taken to Mercy Hospital. Damage was set at $200,000.
At 5:50 a.m. a report of a structure fire was received at Walden Avenue and Harmonia Street. Upon arrival approximately 4 minutes later, firefighters reported heavy fire on the second floor of a 2 1/2 story wood frame dwelling. Companies that responded were Engines 33, 23, 3, 2, and 34; Ladders 13 and 7; Rescue 1 and the 7th Battalion Chief.
