The photos are of a fire at Cherry Street East a restaurant in New Canaan CT. The alarm sounded at 10:44 am on Sunday April 30, 2006. There were 5 career firefighters on shift and numerous volunteers at the house preparing for the towns annual "Touch-A-Truck" festivities. Chief Dave Jonker was first on scene and quickly sounded a second alarm. Neighboring towns, Norwalk, Vista (NY), Pound Ridge (NY), Noroton Heights, and Wilton sent personnel and apparatus to help control the blaze. The fire was started in the kitchen and quickly spread across the first floor. Flames breached the walls and ceiling in this refurbished house. Due to balloon construction, the fire was everywhere. The three employees that were in the building exited safely and there were no serious injuries to fire personnel. Due to the fast actions of the fire company the building has been deemed structurally safe.
