On Thursday, March 18, 2004 evening, FDNY Bronx dispatchers transmitted box 3072 for a report of a building fire in the vicinity of Adams St. and East Tremont Ave.
At 2022hrs Engine Co. 90 transmitted the 10-75 (working fire) for a fire in a 2 story frame private dwelling approximately 25 by 40 on Van Buren St. off of Van Nest Ave. which was later identified at 1623 Van Buren St cross of Van Nest Ave.
Two minutes late, Battalion 20 transmitted a second alarm, fire extended into the exposure 4 side, which was a similar unattached dwelling separated by a 4 foot. ally.
The third alarm transmitted at 2035 hrs. Shortly after, Rescue 3 reported heavy fire condition under pressure existed in the cockloft of the original fire building.
Once the roof cuts were made, flames took over the roof and all members were evacuated from the two houses. This fire went into an exterior operation; Tower-Ladder 41 was used for master stream from the bucket.
The fourth alarm, transmitted at 2101 hours, brought in relief companies to help bring this fire under control.
No serious injuries were reported.
