Farmers Branch unit, heavy fire was found venting through the roof of a 2000 square foot ranch style dwelling.
Battalion*131 arrived on location and assumed command. At this time, it was apparent that the bulk of the fire was contained in the attic. FB E-131 was the first arriving fire apparatus.
E-131 established a 5" supply line, and then advanced the first attack line into the fire. At the peak of the incident, 3 Engines, 1 Truck, 1 Rescue, 2 Medic Units and 2 Battalion Chiefs were committed to the attack. A total of 3, 1.75" lines were stretched into the dwelling in an attempt to control the fire.
After 10 minutes of interior operations, which resulted in little change in conditions, the Incident Commander ordered a switch to a defensive position. An aerial stream was used to knock down the fire, with the remaining spot fires mopped up by handlines.
There was no loss of life or firefighter/resident injuries at the fire, but the building was heavily damaged.
The Farmers Branch fire department was assisted at the fire with an Automatic Aid Engine and Battalion Chief from the Addison Fire Department.
