On Monday, March 1, 2004, Units were dispatched to 4704 Brandon Lane in Beltsville Md. Engine 312 (Beltsville) arrived on the scene reporting heavy fire showing from side Charlie. Crews made an aggressive interior attack to contain this fire. Units were held for several hours checking for extension and working with Investigations.
Before units arrived on the scene a volunteer firefighter and one other citizen assisted in getting the family out of the house. There was an adult female and infant in the basement trapped and unable to get out due to fire on the upper floors and the basement door being locked and unable to open. The volunteer firefighter and citizen forced the basement door open and rescued the baby and female.
Chief 31 (Schwartz) had the command.
