On February 7, 2004, at 3:16 PM, the Sussex County, Delaware EOC alerted Station 74 Delmar, Medic 107 and Trooper-2 for an accident with injuries and rescue at the intersection of Rt. 13 and Rt. 30 north of Delmar.

Upon arrival, Paramedic B-74 confirmed entrapment and advised incoming units that the driver's side door and the roof would have to be removed.

74-20 (S. Johnson) arrived on Rescue-74 and established command. 74-15 (J. Morris Jr.) was in charge of rescue operations.

Firefighters Woody Payne, Rob Thompson and Jacob Morris used the Hurst Tools to remove the door and roof. A foam line was placed in service for protection during the rescue.

74 command had Engine 74-1 go and establish a landing zone for Trooper-2. 74-17 (J. Kowalski) had the landing zone operations. Trooper-2 transported one priority-2 female to Penninsula Medical Regional Center (PRMC) while P-Medic B-74 transported one priority-2 male to PRMC by ground.

The southbound traffic on Rt. 13 was shut down by DFD fire police while crews worked the scene. This caused a very large back up due to the weekend traffic.
