On January 23, 2004, members of the Union Colony Fire/Rescue Authority in Greeley Colorado, conducted Ice Rescue training on a frozen golf course pond.

The Union Colony Fire/Rescue Authority holds refresher training every year for all members. This training prepares members in the event of a citizen falling through the ice. There are numerous ponds and lakes in the city's parks and golf courses.
