On January 7th, 2004, a vacationing family returns home to their house burning. The attached garage fire was noticed in the early evening by who called 911. Neighbors also evacuated the neighboring houses.
The fire was believed to have been burning for some time before activation of the 911 systems.
Advanced Life Support and Emergency Medical Teams rendered aide for environmental injuries, hypoglycemia, and one minor burn. All were treated and released on the scene. No serious injuries were reported.
Prince William County Police aided in traffic, and crowd control. Utilities companies responded to shut off gas, and electric to the buildings. The Prince William Chapter of the American Red Cross, along with very supportive neighbors, are working to aide the families. All fire companies on the scene were happy to see the Evergreen Fire and Rescue Canteen driven by the Chicken-Man.
The following companies responded Gainesville, Stonewall Jackson, Manassas Park, Manassas City, Evergreen, Nokesville, Yorkshire, Lake Jackson, Buckhall, and Coles District. Many other crews scrambled to cover responding stations. At the time of this incident, there was a second working fire in the county.
