Richmond Bravest Battle Three Alarm Apartment Fire

On January 6, 2004 fire struck the Arbor Seniors Apartments on the south side of Richmond causing the Richmond Fire & Emergency Services to sound 3 alarms to control this incident.

The first fire companies were dispatched at 1429 hours followed by second and third alarms at 1434 and 1441 hours.

Quint Company 24, only 2 blocks away, was first on the scene with heavy fire showing on the "A" side of the building and requested a second alarm. Strong winds helped fan fire throughout the light weight construction building.

At least 80 seniors were displaced. There were no reported injures. The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army and the City of Richmond Social Services assisted those that were displaced.

A total of 10 Quints, 3 Heavy Rescues, 1 Chesterfield Pumper and 3 Battalion Chiefs responded. Covers ups were provided by both Henrico and Chesterfield Companies in vacant Richmond Stations.
