On January 13, 2006, at approximately 5pm, Grandview Fire Department was alerted for a grass/structure fire on CR 201. This was approximately one mile from the station. When alerted for this incident, Grandview Brush-175 was already out on a mutual assist call. When notified, Brush-1 cleared the mutual assist and headed back to their city to handle the incident. Since Brush-1 was going to have an extended response time, mutual aid was called from Itasca Fire Department and Liberty Chapel Fire Department.
Brush-175 was first unit on scene, and reported a grass fire with a building on fire. Brush-175 and Itasca Brush 118 reported the grass fire under control within 15 minutes. Itasca Engine 118 and Liberty Chapel Engine 180 arrived and began a defensive attack.
All mutual aid was released from scene at around 6pm.
Grandview Fire Department personel remained on scene till around 10:30 pm tending with the burning hay bales. Total acerage burned was approximately 3 acres.
