In the early hours of December 31, 2005 at 6:10 am, the Peoria Fire Department was dispatched to a working house fire at 2716 W. Garden in Peoria, Illinois.
First due companies included: Truck 4, Engine 4, Engine2, Engine 3, Rescue 1 and Bat 1. Upon arriving on scene the first companies found heavy smoke and fire from two sides and the roof of a single family dwelling.
Engine 4 quickly placed two 1 3/4" attack lines in use. Battalion 1 arrived on scene and requested a second alarm for an additional truck and engine. This brought the response of Truck 1 and Engine 1.
Meantime Engine 2 established a water supply from a hydrant and Truck 4 positioned to vent the roof.
Due to stubborn conditions Engine 3 supplied water for Truck 4 to finish the job with its ladder pipe.
All the occupants of the house left safely and there were no injuries.
Both of the houses on either side sustained considerable damage as the houses in this neighborhood sit 20-25 feet apart.
