On Monday, December 29, 2003, the Bloomington Fire Department was dispatched at 1638 to 3700 Oak Ridge Drive for a structure fire.
On arrival at 1645 Engine 4, Engine 5, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 1 found a single family home engulfed in flames. A resident of the home informed units that there was nobody currently in the structure, and apparently the fire started in the wood stove.
Arriving units were confronted with a narrow gravel driveway approximately 300 feet in length through thick woods. The house was located in a forested area and several trees had ignited.
Engine 5 and Battalion 1 staged on the road, Engine 4 and Rescue 1 proceeded down the driveway and positioned for attack. Attack lines consisted of a 2.5" line to a 3-way ball valve split to a 2.5" attack line and a 1.75" attack line. An additional 1.75
