December 28, 2005 - Chesterfield County Fire and EMS was dispatched to a report of a tanker overturned.
Engines 17, 14, Rescue 14, Medic 17, Battalion 2 and Tactical Safety Officer responded to the 1100-hour call. Several updates on the call were transmitted that product was leaking from the tanker and Hazmat 15 was added to the call for hazards.
Engine 17 was first on scene; report that the product was Cows Milk from local farms leaking from the tanker that was on an off ramp from Southbound 288 onto Northbound 95.
The driver lost control and round down a short embankment before coming to rest on the off ramp from Southbound 95 to Northbound 288.
A work van exiting on the ramp had to react so not to hit the tanker by driving up an embankment.
Hazmat personal dike the milk from getting into a near by creek due to the hazard to fish.
The driver only received cuts to his face and a black eye from snow chains that had been stored in the floorboard.
