On December 19, 2005 at 5:42 am, the City of Magee, Mississippi Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a residential structure fire. The Magee Volunteer Fire Department was paged at 5:42 am, alerting them to the fire.
The first fire units went enroute at 5:45 am and then arrived at 5:47 am.
Upon arrival the initial attack crew encountered heavy smoke conditions inside the residence. While the initial fire attack was taking place, search and rescue operations were also under way looking for possible victims that were reportedly unaccounted for.
After the initial attack had the fire under control, and smoke conditions improved, a victim was discovered in the back bedroom of the structure.
Due to the discovery of the victim, the Simpson County Fire Investigator along with the Mississippi Fire Marshall's office was contacted.
Magee Fire Units along with investigators remained on scene until approximately 7:45 am.
The Simpson County Fire Investigator and the Mississippi Fire Marshall's office still have this fire under investigation.
