On 10/26/03 at 0154 Horry County Communications dispatched units for a structure fire with heavy fire showing on cedar ln. in the Socastee section of the county.
While enroute Batt. 2 requested Rescue 2 from the Horry County Volunteer Rescue Squad to respond for manpower. E11 arrived and confirmed a working fire in a single family dwelling. E11 laid a line going in to cedar ln. off hwy 544 and requested E231 to pick it up. Battalion 2 Justin Gibbins arrived and assumed the command and gave orders to the arriving units. Rescue 2 arrived and split their crew to accomplish fire attack, the RIT assignment and lighting. Additional county fire and ems units responded to control the fire in 30 minutes.
The structure was vacant at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation at this time.
