Macungie, PA - Around 12:45 in the morning, the first calls came into Lehigh County 911 for a structure fire at the Tyler Pipe Plant in Macungie.
First crews arriving in the area reported heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof of the building. As crews arrived on scene explosions where heard and seen coming from the plant.
Firefighters quickly went into a defensive operation calling in the second and then third alarms. As the fire progressed a fourth alarm was struck bringing in companies from all over Lehigh and Berks County.
Hours into the fire the first sign of progress was being scene as the fire volume was reduced.
Firefighters remained on the scene throughout the night and into the morning, a cause on the fire is yet to be determined.
