The Lakeville Fire Departments Stations 1,3 and 4 were called out to a possible residential structure fire at 12:06pm Sunday June 29th 2003, located at 17521 Ixonia in Lakeville. When the Lakeville Police arrived they reported flames coming from the garage as well as a large Motor Home that was parked in the driveway next to the garage.

District Chief Brian Carstensen, who was already in route to the scene, heard the report from Police Dispatch and asked them to page out station 2 as well, feeling that this could be a rather large fire and that becuase we are a Volunteer Fire Department man power could be a problem.

When the first of Fire trucks arrived they found heavy black smoke and the garage as well as a 34 foot motor home to be fully involved, they proceeded with a hand line and main stream attack of the fire from the exterior and were able to knock down the fire rather quickly, according to Brian Carstensen, he stated that everyone in the Fire Dept. did an excellent job on containing the fire, if not for such a quick response and fast attack of the fire it may of gotten more into the home and there could have been sigificantly more damage. The fire was called under control at 12:50pm.

Along with the home and the motor home was also a late model Jeep Cherokee Sport which was parked inside the garage.

The Homeowners were not home but did arrive later on scene, the fire is still under invstigation according to Brian Carstensen who is also the Full time Fire Inspector For the City of Lakeville.

The Fire Department would like to thank the Lakeville Police for crowd and traffic control as well as taking excellent pictures of the fire which is helping alot in the fire investigation. They would also like to thank the ALF (Apple Valley, Lakeville and Farmington) Ambulance Service for their assistance in looking out for the firefighters health and safety.
