Shortly after 8:30 p.m. Monday night June 23rd, the Baltimore County, Maryland 911 center dispatched Fire Box 4-12, reporting fire in an industrial building. Responding units were advised several calls were received and neighboring Howard County was also running a box alarm assignment.
Upon arrival, Engine 4 (Catonsville) reported fire through the roof and requested a second alarm. Fire and heavy smoke was visible several miles away.
Units faced limited access to the fire scene, which was in a wooded area, and initially had a hard time establishing a water source - eventually setting up drafting operations from a nearby river on the Baltimore County-Howard County line. Multiple hose lines were laid and several ladder pipes were used from truck companies.
Command used a 5 alarm assignment, including a Tanker Strike team and mutual aid from Howard County & Baltimore City, to battle the blaze.
