Southside fire crews responded to a blaze on Nov. 16 at approximately 6:10 a.m.

They found heavy fire showing from the first and second floor porches, the south side of the structure and on the first and second floors with extension into the attic.

Fire crews were evacuated shortly after initiating an interior attack and fought the fire from the exterior due to the volume of fire and partial collapses of the porches and the roof.

The second alarm was called at 6:21 a.m. With the second alarm there were approximately forty firefighters on scene. At the time of this release crews were still on scene hitting hot spots.

No firefighters were injured. However, three victims -- two women and a man -- were transported to HCMC. The male had lacerations and burns. The two females were transported due to concerns of smoke inhalation.

All victims were alert and conscious when they left the scene. Their conditions are not known at this time. One pet did not survive the fire.

The Minneapolis Arson Unit reported that the fire was caused by careless cooking.
