Just past noon, on Tuesday, April 15th, 2003, Station 9-1, Station 15-2 and Duty Engine 9-4 were dispatched for a dwelling on Lycoming Avenue. Upon the arrival of 1502, the box was completed for a working fire. Orders were given to stretch a 2 1/2" inch line to the dwelling. Engine 943 was first on location. Their progress was initially hampered by a downed electrical wire. Engine 943's crew began to knock down the fire while Engine 1511 established a supply line.
Numerous other Companies from Deptford (Stations 9-1, 9-3, 9-4), West Depford (Station 6-6) and Woodbury Heights (Station 15-1) fought the fire, which was brought under control in about 45 minutes to an hour into the job.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Deptford Township Fire Marshall's Office.
