At 0900 hrs Delaware County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a structure fire. The fire was located at 1561 Hermesprota Drive, cross street of Tribbett Ave. The first alarm assignment consisted of:
- Briarcliffe: E75
- Darby Township: E76
- Good Will: E77
- Collingdale: BLS
- Fitzgerald Mercy: ALS
The building consisted of a two story brick middle of the row with flat roof. Chief 77 went on location with heavy smoke showing and 1 person in a second floor window.
The companies went in service with heavy fire in the basement and extension into the upper floors. The woman jumped and suffered a broken leg. Chief 77 requested a second alarm consisting of:
- Darby Borough: E 04
- Glenolden: Tower 5
- Folcroft: Tele squirt 1, R1
- Sharon Hill: E09
- Felton: Canteen 47
The original fire building received heavy fire damage and the exposure buildings on both sides received smoke damage.
One firefighter who was also a neighbor was injured and the family pet dog died. The Township Fire Marshal and State Police are investigating the incident.
