On March 9,2005 10:15 The City of Orange Fire Department transmitted District 1 Box for a reported kitchen fire at 369 Alden Street. Upon arrival the Deputy Chief was met with heavy smoke pushing from the front door of a 2.5 story frame dwelling.
The working fire signal was transmitted. Mutual Aid was requested From West Orange bringing WOFD Engine 2 as the Fast Company. Orange Firefighters advanced lines through the front door as heavy fire was venting out the rear windows extending up to the 2nd floor.
Primary search located an uncouncious dog under a bed on the 2nd floor. The dog was removed to the street where West Orange Firefighters administered oxygen to the dog. After three minutes of resusitation, the dog's eyes opened and tail started to wag. The dog was brought over to the homeowner to be reunited.
Fire extended up to the 2nd and 3rd floors on side C. West Orange was put to work on the top floor to open the attic and roof area. The fire was placed under control in 30 minutes.
The resident stated she had the oven on with the door open to heat the house. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. No other injuries were reported.
