On February 5, 2003, at around 1600hrs, FDNY firefighters in Brooklyn battled a 3rd alarm fire. The fire was in a 1 story brick furniture store. There was heavy fire upon arrival and 2 tower ladders were used as well as handlines.
Firefighters on exposure 3 side found the windows covered in cinderblock and cemented shut. After breaking through the cynderblock with mauls, they found metal shutters on the inside of the windows that were blocked closed by piled up furniture.
