On January 31, 2003, a 63 year old motorist was killed when the truck he was driving was struck by a Metrolink commuter train in the city of San Fernando.
2 adult male passengers on the train were injured and transported to an area hospital for evaluation. 3 fire suppression companies and 2 rescue ambulances under the command of Battalion Chief John Nowell were dispatched to the scene.
This was the third Metrolink crash to occur during the month of January. According to authorities, the driver of the pickup truck drove around the crossing arm and into the path of the train.
