Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department of Colorado was dispatched to a reported house fire at approximately 5:23 AM on December 29, 2004. The initial assignment consisted of Engine Companies 151 and 154, Quint 155, Rescue 151, Battalion Chief 151, and the duty Chief (Division Chief 151). Engine 153 was added to the assignment to assist in confirming the location of the fire.
First arriving units encountered a working barn fire and setup a defensive operation, while protecting exposures. Due to the location of the fire in a non-hydranted area of the district (Stone Canyon Ranch Rd.), water tenders were ordered from the Larkspur Fire Protection District, South Metro Fire/Rescue, and Franktown Fire Protection District via mutual aid.
Companies remained on scene for several hours for overhaul and extinguishment. Battalion Chief Pat Richardson served as the Incident Commander, Division Chief Eric Morgenthaler served as the Safety Officer, Fire Chief Art Morales served as the Planning Section Chief, Lt. David Russell served as the Fire Attack Group Supervisor, and Lt. Brian Long served as the Water Supply Group Supervisor.
The fire is under investigation by the Support Services Division.
