Virginia Crews Battles Two-Alarm Row House Inferno

Fire crews reported a two-story wood frame row house fully involved.

Nine adults lost their home and one dog died when fire tore through a Richmond, Va. row house on March 11 around 3:30 p.m.

Tones sounded and Quint 6, Quint 12, Quint 10, Engine 5, Rescue 2 and Battalion Chief #1 responded to the 700 block of Albemarle Street.

Officials said that as Quint 6 saw a column of smoke from their station as they began to respond.

Fire on scene reported a two-story wood frame row house fully involved.

A second alarm was requested which dispatched: Quint 1, Quint 17, Engine 13, Rescue 1, Rescue 3 and Battalion Chief 3.

"Quint 6 secured a hydrant and launched a fire attack while Engine 5 secured a second hydrant,"

Rescue 2 performed a primary search.

At 4:10 p.m. evacuation tones sounded and the building was evacuated.

The fire was marked under control at 4:53 p.m.

The Red Cross assisted the displaced residents.Several pets were able to be saved.

Officials said the cause has been ruled accidental.
