Feb. 12, 2009
The crew of Engine 49-1 arrived to find heavy smoke showing

On Feb. 3, at approximately 11:25 p.m. Kent Center dispatched Stations 40 (Bowers), 49 (Frederica) and 55 (Magnolia) for a working house fire at 72 Stuffs Cove.

The crew of Engine 49-1 reported heavy smoke showing. As the crew deployed a 1 3/4-inch handline, Engine/Tanker 40-6 arrived and deployed a second handline and assisted with fire suppression. Captain Phil Pennington, Jr. (40-18) assumed command and ordered a ladder to be set in case ventilation would be needed.

Crews from Engines 40-3 and 55-4 completed primary and secondary searches with negative results. Pennington placed the incident under control around 12:00 as crews did overhaul and assisted the fire marshal.
