On Saturday, July 31, 2004, an already busy day got worse. Big Knob (Station 26) and Pine Run (Station 59) were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in New Sewickley Township, Pennsylvania with reported entrapment.
Chief 2610, returning from another accident, was first on the scene and confirmed entrapment and a gas meter sheared off. He also put in a request for a medical helicopter on standby. Next, Daugherty Township (Station 86) was dispatched due to Pine Run being diverted to yet another accident with possible entrapment.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle in approximately 30 minutes. Once crews freed the driver from the vehicle, he was transported to Big Knob Station 1's landing pad where LifeFlight 4 was waiting.
Economy Ambulance Service (Unit 45) and Medic Rescue Ambulance Service were also on the scene along with New Sewickley Township Police Department.
