On the night of July 16, 2004, Baltimore firefighters were dispatched to the 1000 Block of Argyle Avenue for a building fire.
Companies arrived to find heavy fire showing from a vacant, 2-story brick school. The Chief of the 3rd Battalion ordered the second alarm to be struck.
Members of Engines 8 and 13 stretched lines while the crews from Trucks 10 and 16 forced entry through the boarded up first floor. Firefighters extinguished all of the heavy fire on the first floor and quickly made the second floor, extinguishing all visible fire.
It took approximately one hour to bring the fire under control. After taking up from this fire and returning to quarters, Engine 8 came across a fully involved dwelling and requested that box to be filled out.
