Shortly before 11 p.m. on Tuesday September 4 the Rochester Fire Department in New York was dispatched for a possible house fire. As companies were en route, they were advised of multiple calls. Dispatchers then sent the balance of the working fire dispatch assignment.
Firefighters from Engine 7 arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke from the attic area and confirmed the working fire. First interior crews reported they had a fire in the attic and tried to advance a line but found the attic too cluttered with debris to operate safely and they left the building with several exterior lines then placed in service.
The cause of the fire which destroyed the home is under investigation by the Arson Investigation Unit of the Rochester Fire Department. At about the same time as this fire, Rochester firefighters were battling another fire, this one a 2-alarm fire on the city's north side.
